Day 15--Switzerland

Today we went to a small glass museum in a nearby town. The drive from our AirBnB is an adventure—very twisty, with a beautiful lake in clear view.

The girls have been watching and loving the show “Blown Away” for years, and this place promised the chance to blow glass themselves. The hot shop turned out to be aptly named, but they got to blow into their glass blobs, and the result is a pretty souvenir. I’m not sure how we will travel with them, but that’s a problem for future Donnie and Bri to solve.

Our visit started with a glass labyrinth that was kind of terrifying. We had to walk in slippers because the floor was clear glass. The walls were also clear glass, so we had to navigate them with gloved hands. There were flashing disco lights and loud disco music playing the whole time. I almost backed out but decided to brave it. Elise did run into a glass wall and smacked her face, but no permanent damage done. So happy when we solved it and could exit.

The liquid moved up as we heated the air with our hands.

This sign under these said they were “lovingly made by an 80 year old man.” So touching to put them in a museum!

Beautiful instrument played by very few people now. It involves wet hands, which seems unsustainable, but what do I know?

Casually beautiful neighborhood.

Necessary gelato after being in the hotter than Hades hot shop.

Celebrating the beauty around us.

Mushrooms from the walk Donnie and I took this evening.

It was 8:45pm. The Swiss sun loves to be out!
